Tour to Cheung Chau Island

Last Thursday I decided to take visit Cheung Chau, an island 45 min. from Central Hong Kong by boat. I was quite lucky as the weather was okay that day (at the moment it is constantly raining cats and dogs).

One of the boats staff recommended me to take the "deluxe class" (7 HK Dollar more) so I could sit outside on deck and enjoy the view.

The view from the boat was great.....

But as soon as they started to turn on the engine I changed my mind......

I realized why I was the only person in that class.

As the boat was going straight and the deck was in the back all the air was blown to my wonderful deluxe terrace. The exhaust was everything else but not clean. It was almost impossible to breath. Nevertheless I stayed for the wonderful view until 10 min. later I felt like throwing up.

And on the right side of Hong Kong Island you can see the area where I live. Pok Fu Lam.

Finally I arrived on Cheung Chau. A very cute and colourful village in the middle of the island. It was originally a fishermen's town and now more and more becomes overflown by HK weekend tourists.

As you can see, they have a beach as well even facing Hong Kong Island. Here it is standard to use shark prevention nets. It gives a safer swimming feeling........I think.

Swimming is not the only activity here. Cheung Chau offers beautiful hiking paths with breathtaking views.
